Green Deal Advisor

The Role of Green Deal Advisors

Green Deal AdvisorBefore any installations are fulfilled through Green Deal or ECO (Energy Company Obligation), a detailed property assessment must be carried out. The assessment and accompanying advice will establish recommendations for measures that will improve the energy efficiency of a property. This is an essential requirement for any Green Deal agreement.

Accredited Green Deal Advisors, sometimes referred to as Green Deal Assessors, play a pivotal role in the scheme’s process. With a combination of technical expertise and practical experience, a Green Deal Advisor will be able to provide a householder the advice they need to make an informed decision on the most appropriate course of action for their property.

A Green Deal Advisor will visit a property and carry out a detailed evaluation, determining the building's current energy efficiency rating and the requirements of the occupants.

The Advisor will review the building fabric and produce an enhanced Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) which will contain an occupancy assessment to review the inhabitants living situation and circumstances. This will indentify whether the occupants are eligible for any grant funding through the ECO scheme.

As part of the overall assessment, the Green Deal Advisor will review the occupants’ energy needs and gauge their current energy usage. They will also analyse the system by which the property is heated and how it is used by the residents throughout the year.

The Green Deal Advisor will then provide the customer with guidance on the most appropriate energy efficiency measures available to them under Green Deal and/or ECO.

Importantly, Green Deal Advisors must follow a strict code of practice, acting within the best interests of the client to guarantee that the service they provide is impartial.

Qualified Green Deal Advisors are registered by the Green Deal Oversight and Registration Body (ORB). To find a Green Deal Advisor in your area you can use the ORB’s search facility.
